Psychotherapy
I am passionate about working with teens and adults individually in therapy. I aim to provide an engaging and warm environment where together we can access tools to help you cope with stressors; set healthy boundaries and improve communication to fuel connection; step into your emotions, as painful or uncomfortable as they might be, to better regulate them; reprocess past traumatic experiences; understand the systemic factors that may be impacting your mental health; and strengthen your attunement and awareness to your body. I believe that you have the innate power to heal yourself, I’m simply here to guide and empower you along the way.
I work with clients that live in both New York and Ohio. I offer 50-minute sessions on a weekly or bi-weekly basis. I specialize in working with trauma, PTSD, stress, anxiety, depression, disordered eating, self-esteem, grief, women’s issues, communication and relationships, big life changes, among other issues. My approach is informed by multiple modalities, such as Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Internal Family Systems (IFS), Somatic Experiencing (SE), Intuitive Eating, Imago Dialogue, and Feminist Therapy.
I am deeply committed to affirming multiculturalism from a decolonial and abolitionist lens while taking time to understand how power dynamics, systemic oppression, and intersecting identities have impacted your lived experience.
Together we can collaborate to tailor an approach that best addresses your needs in an environment where you feel seen, heard, and empowered. Please reach out for a free clarity call if you are interested in investing in yourself and working together!
Questions about Services
What is EMDR therapy?
We process emotional material in a different part of the brain than we process intellectual material. Therefore, when we’ve gone through a painful experience we can “know” intellectually that we are okay, safe, etc., but still feel anxious, scared, or overwhelmed.
In cases of trauma, we can have intrusive thoughts and flashbacks, and even feel like we are reliving the painful experience. EMDR appears to connect what we know to what we feel, so that the brain is able to process the past experiences and allow us to heal.
What is IFS therapy?
IFS is a therapeutic approach that looks at each person as being comprised of a family of parts that are led by a core Self. In cases of trauma, these wounded and protective parts can take on more extreme roles. IFS attempts to foster both inner and outer connectedness by helping to first access your Self energy and then come to understand and heal all of your hard-working parts.
What is feminist therapy?
Feminist therapy explores how systems of oppression and the intersectionality (i.e.: race, ethnicity, gender, sexuality, class, ability, age, etc.) of various identities affect mental health. It centers marginalized voices and recognizes that power dynamics heavily influence these experiences.
What is intuitive eating?
Intuitive eating is an anti-diet approach to building a trusting and accepting relationship with your body. It involves listening to your body to make food choices that feel good for you without judgment or influence from diet culture. Basically, you eat when you’re hungry and stop once you’re full. It sounds easy in theory, but trust me, this takes a lot of practice!
What is somatic experiencing?
SE is a body-oriented therapeutic model that aims to settle issues of stress, shock, and trauma that build up in our bodies over time. Together we will assess where you’re feeling stuck in the fight, flight, freeze, or fawn states and then provide tools to resolve those fixated physiological states.
